Veneers

Veneers are used to enhance aesthetics normally of the top six to ten teeth in the visible “smile zone”. They can improve the shape, colour and position of your teeth.

How can veneers help?

  • Colour: a correct shade of porcelain is chosen to improve a single or several discoloured teeth.
  • Shape: When teeth are small and bulk needs to be added, veneers can be used to make them more expressive and visible. A veneer can also make a chipped tooth look whole again.
  • Position: A veneer can also sometimes be used, if a tooth is slightly out of position or there is a gap between teeth to help align it with the others.

Why do we use Emax® Veneers?

Veneers

Emax® veneers are pressed ceramic and their high durability and strength make it possible to fabricate them in very thin layers allowing little or no drilling of the teeth. One of the main benefits of Emax® veneers is avoiding drilling teeth to peg shapes, as can be the case with conventional porcelain veneers.

Once your Dentist takes initial impressions, the veneers are shaped in wax to create the chosen shape. After that the wax veneers are cast and molten porcelain is used to produce the final veneer.

Because of Emax® Veneers’ superior strength it is possible to produce them as ultra-thin layers but with much higher edge-strength than “feldspathic” veneers and very less possibility of chipping.

What is the Emax® system?

The Emax® method consists of materials that are metal-free and closely resemble the appearance of natural teeth. Because Emax® all-ceramic crowns and veneers are created from a single piece of a material called lithium disilicate, your dentist is able to match your original tooth’s colour more consistently.

What is the difference between a veneer and a crown?

Veneers are very thin layers of ceramic that are added to the surface of a person’s front teeth. A crown covers the entire visible surface of the tooth and adds strength and stability. A crown can be used to repair a tooth that has been worn. Teeth grinding, an improper bite, age, fillings and tooth decay are a few common reasons for tooth wear.

What is the procedure like?

Your dentist will evaluate your individual needs to determine the best course of treatment. The treatment to improve your smile will vary depending on your situation so it is best to discuss this with your doctor.

How much do these procedures typically cost?

The cost of the procedure will vary based on your dentist’s diagnosis. The cost will also depend on factors such as whether you have cavities or teeth that are in need of specific treatment. It is best to have this conversation during your initial consultation with your dentist to be able to gain a clear understanding of how much your procedure(s) will cost.

Can I go whiter than my actual teeth?

In many cases, your Emax® smile can be whiter than your actual teeth. Often, the treatment will also require some whitening of your un-restored teeth to make sure that your smile has a consistent beautiful appearance.

How long will my Emax® smile last?

Emax® lithium disilicate is an extremely durable material and has been clinically proven for more than 10 years in the dental industry. With proper care and regular dental visits, Emax® restorations can serve you well for years to come.
